Hello everyone and thank you for taking the time to engage with my blog!

In an increasingly busy and hectic world, people are working harder and harder to get by. For most of society the increasing cost of living, spiralling inflation and wage stagnation have left many struggling to make ends meet. Even highly paid employees are under increasing pressure to deliver results or lose their jobs. There is the threat of an imminent recession where things could get worse and a house price crash looms large on the horizon. This all creates fear and uncertainty.

As I started to try and make sense of all of this, a search of the internet offers many quick fixes, easy solutions and effortless examples of getting rich quick. Clickbait titles often make you think there is an easy solution to any problem if only you subscribe to a certain answer. It is easy to get excited when you hear these types of stories or read these types of posts. The reality is these articles and blog posts are often selling hope to people who are most in need, to create an audience and interest. It is often confusing on what to focus on and easy to gain inspiration from multiple ideas and posts.

There is of course an answer to this. It is not getting rich quick, it is not easy but it is possible with the right tools and mindset.

The first step in all of this is to take responsibility. I know this can be hard and sometimes overwhelming but it is an absolutely vital step. We will delve into this in more detail but the distinction between whether things happen to us or whether we can alter our reality is a vital distinction.

The second step is to develop the mindset and skills to build out from your current position and get you to where you want to be. I am not talking about specialist skills here of being an accountant, doctor, teacher etc. Rather the generic skills that are in abundance in high performing individuals in any field. Whether that is writing, public speaking, networking or IT, developing those skills and using them in the real world is essential.

The final step is using those learned skills to build assets that will future proof you against any of those future problems or external threats. Building these will require courage, the ability to tolerate some risk and ongoing education. However, this is all possible with the right mindset and drive to achieve it.

My passion is to try and help people move from where they are to where they want to be and when they get there to show them what more is possible. The Building Out blog has been set up to help anyone develop and acquire the right mindset, skills and assets to achieve this. Like many others, I do not promise a quick answer or solution. This will be hard but it is ultimately achievable.
